From Old Wente clone vines in the Green Acres vineyard, the 2017 Chardonnay Green Acres was whole-cluster pressed and fermented with native yeasts, without malolactic, then aged sur lie with bâtonnage before being racked once prior to bottling. Aged 15 months in 40% new French oak, it comes bounding out of the glass with sit-up-and-beg notes of pineapple upside-down cake, creme brûlée and orange blossoms over a core of lemon meringue pie and ripe peach plus a waft of lime leaves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with a complex array of citrus and stone fruit layers, finishing with bold freshness and fantastic length. 125 cases produced. $55
