The 2019 Syrah Sangiacomo Vineyard 100% Whole Cluster is more expressive than the destemmed release, yet it too needs bottle age. Gorgeous red and blue fruits, peppery herbs, spring flowers, bay leaf, and gamey notes all emerge from the glass, and it’s medium-bodied, with a balanced, silky texture, ripe tannins, and a great finish. Give bottles 2-4 years in a cold cellar, and it’s going to evolve like a top Côte Rôtie and keep for another decade.
